Join leaders Mike Whitney and Peggy Taylor for a long ramble through the western Sooke Hills. We’ll park at Harbourview Rd and start with good old Quimper and the chin-up hut on top, then carry on to Thunderbird, down its less traveled west side, and across the Charters River to the East Rampart. Conditions permitting, we’ll carry on to the West Rampart, down to the west Charters, and then cross the river again to get back to the parking at Harbourview. This 18 km or so might take as little as 7 hours but could take longer, so be sure to bring headlamps just in case, along with the rest of standard winter hiking gear. No dogs please, and since we’d like to get going at 9 AM at Harbourview (the parking area about 1 k north of the Sooke Road), please plan to be there for 8:45 AM.
