Details: Mount Arrowsmith via the Un-Judge’s Route, as a final celebration of summer scrambling. To quote Philip’s Stone’s excellent guidebook Island Alpine Select:
A superb route, one of the best scrambles on Vancouver Island with great access, incredible views, ample exposure [three stars]
Participants must be reasonably fit and comfortable with exposure and unroped scrambling up to fourth class. Descent via the Judge’s Route, and if we have time a bushwhacking shortcut to close the loop.
Equipment: Helmet, good boots, a day pack with The Ten Essentials.
Rating: This trip is rated as B4 (B: moderately strenuous, 5-6 hours hiking time, <1100m elevation gain, day pack; 4: mountainous terrain, backcountry and climbing/scrambling experience needed).
