Date: Jul 10, 2025 to Jul 13, 2025
Time: All Day
Category: Mountaineering
Trip leader/ contact: Jane Alcock-White <>
Trip Details:
We will meet in the Flower Ridge parking lot and then drive up the road to the start of the Shepherd Ridge “route” which from what I understand starts out as a bushwhack. I’ve got a couple tracks for where the route starts but I expect some trial and error as we find the best way up.
First day will be from the Buttle Lake Hwy, up Shepherd Ridge, over Shepherd Horn and Shepherd Peak and we’ll camp along the ridge to Tzela Mountain.
Second day will be with daypacks to Tzela Mountain and Mt. Harmston. The plan is to climb the standard Southeast Ridge of Harmston. We may or may not need the crampons/ice axe, rope/harnesses – we can decide closer to the date when the group forms up.
Third Day exit.
Fourth day, just in case. Day 1 is a long day and we might not make it all the way to the ridge to Tzela Mountain so this gives us some room to adjust if needed.
None of the tracks that I have are of the exact route but they’ll help keep us going in the right direction and I’ve got good info from Matthew on what sections to avoid! I’ll try to put them in the comments or send out by email.
The maps I’ve attached are just an approximation of the route (based off the tracks I have).
