DATE: Sunday, November 16, 2025

MEETING TIME: 8:30 AM

MEETING PLACE: Mt. Work parking lot on Munn Rd.  Google Map link

There is limited parking at this small lot, so carpooling is encouraged.  We can pick up 2 participants at Helmcken Rd. Park & Ride at 8:10 AM.  Anyone else who can offer a ride can do the same.

Category: B1 (with some off trail)

DESCRIPTION: As it is the fall, with wet conditions, we are opting for an easier local hike with a few twists.  From the Munn Road parking area we will hike up the standard trail to the summit of Mt. Work where we can have a break for snacks and tea.  We will then take an off trail route to the west (there are several options) to an older trail that loops back through the lower slopes and lovely forests.  Maybe we might spots some mushrooms??  We will aim to end up at the historic Kinghorn Cabin where we can pause for a break and check out the information there.  From there we head back down to our vehicles to close the loop.

This outing is suitable for newer members who want to experience an introductory club hike, or guests who want to check out the club and meet members, or those who just want a more relaxed ramble in one of the Victoria area’s easier hills.  Of course all are welcome!  No dogs please.

REQUIRED GEAR: Raingear, pole(s) for the off trail portion, good sturdy hiking boots, lunch/snacks/warm drink and the usual 10 essentials

HAZARDS: Variable terrain (slippery rock, moss, leaves, roots), tripping, falls, rain, mud, low temperatures.

Maximum Participants: 12

Leaders: Roger & Peggy Taylor
