Cost: Participants will be required to contribute to the cost of gas, and must also be willing to assist with driving, if the driver is getting tired.
Description: Our primary objective will be to hike the steep Climber’s Route to the bowl where the Main Gully goes off to the left up to a col, just short of Mt. Arrowsmith, summit Mt. Arrowsmith and return descent via the Judges Route. This plan is contingent on solid snow conditions. We will assess conditions at the bowl and if the snow is too thin or mushy we will have a Plan B of heading up to the Arrowsmith bumps and travelling over those and then descending via the Saddle Route. Route timing will depend on choice of route, conditions, energy and competency of the group – plan for 8 to 10 hours of mountaineering time. The gate closes at 8 PM, so we need to be back at our cars by 7 PM at the latest.
Skill Requirements: Participants must have snow travel experience (and/or mountaineering courses) and be competent in using crampons and have ice axe self-arrest skills and comfort on steep snow. Experience should be recent…within the last two years.
Required Equipment/clothing: crampons, ice axe, helmet, hiking pole (optional), gaiters, warm & rain layers, touque & gloves (or mitts) water and food, sun protection.
Max participants: 8
Vehicles required: 2 vehicles minimum, 3 vehicles better for post trip shuttling of participants
