DescriptionThis hike is a great way to review the basics of backcountry hiking and camping with a group of like-minded women. We’ll hike up a relatively straightforward but steep trail to the upper ridge and then find a suitable place to set up camp on the plateau. This is a good place to enjoy the lovely views of nearby peaks in Strathcona Park! Depending on how people are feeling, we will bushwhack to Idsardi Mountain on the Saturday. As this is a beginner-friendly hike, we may organize a virtual pre-trip planning meeting during the weekend of 25-26 July to review the basics of preparing for an overnight hiking trip into the backcountry. We’ll be able to review how to plan a hike, which footwear, clothes, and gear would be needed for the anticipated conditions, how to prepare food and water, and how best to be ready for the unexpected. We will also aim for a debrief over food and drinks on the way home.
Distance: 11-28 km
During the trip, we will follow provincial health guidelines to reduce the risk of transmitting the coronavirus.
