(AGM weekend) Mt Elma or Allen Brooks Backcountry Ski (Full, waitlist being taken)

Details: First time out on skis? Or Splitboard? Or do you just want to get out and have some fun with other ACC’rs? Come on out the day after the AGM for a ski tour of Mt Elma or Allen Brooks, conditions will dictate which one we ski. 

For Mt Elma we would tour out from the Strathcona Lodge parking lot, cross Helen Mackenzie lake and skin up the summit, transition to downhill mode and ski back down to the lake. Depending on how participants feel we may run one or more laps. 

For Allen Brooks we will follow a similar route but cut a new track below Helen Mackenzie lake and up the north shoulder of Allen Brooks. The north ridge is somewhat steeper terrain then Elma, but offers a better tour and more opportunity to practice kick turns and discussion about avalanche hazards. 

Skills and Gear Needed: Participants must already know how to ski or snowboard, and be comfortable skiing gladed blue runs.

Participants must also have completed AST 1 or above, and have a full avalanche kit (shovel, triple antenna beacon, probe)
