This is a course provided by VIBE for members interested in leading climbing events on the island. Climbing experience is a must, preferably both with top rope and sport leading. At the end of this course it is expected that you will be able to help other members make the transition to outdoor climbing and help safely manage climbing meetups for new and casual members.
- Reviewing and refining anchor systems (primarily bolted/top rope setups)
- Safe and efficient group management at the crag
- Sport climbing systems and oversight
- Basic sport leading skills and considerations (if relevant to the group)
Required Gear:
Harness, Helmet, ATC, Locking Carabiner, Prusik, Rock Shoes, Approach Shoes (Optional).
Food, water, sunscreen, rain gear.
Skill Requirements:
10 pitches of outdoor climbing in the last 12 Months.
Knowledge of basic climbing knots and rope systems.
Commitment to lead future ACCVI Rock events.
