Trip Description:
This is a lovely hike through subalpine meadows with a low work for high reward views. The hike starts with a relatively easy 400m hike up to Kamma ridge (which is more of a bump than a ridge) for our first views. After a quick explore and break we will drop 100m before heading back up for the ridge portion of the hike to Minna ridge at 1418m. There is a small lake on the way that we can stop at on the way back for a dip (if the weather and time allows).
Other than some light scrambling there is nothing technical about this hike. From recent trip reports in the area I expect most of the snow to be melted and present only in patches but some traction aids such as spikes and/or poles could be helpful to bring just in case. Otherwise no equipment is needed, just bring appropriate shoes or boots for mountain terrain and the 10 essentials.
Hopefully the gates will still be open next week. I will let participants know Thursday once Mosaic has updated the website if the gates will be closed. We can decide on another objective if the gates are closed.
The weather is currently looking good for Sunday but I will reschedule if it is going to be really windy and rainy as it can be quite exposed at times and is not an enjoyable hike in poor weather.
I can currently take 4 other people in my vehicle. If someone else is willing to drive the logging road I can add a few more people to the trip. An AWD vehicle with a bit of clearance can easily drive the road to the trailhead.
