Description: Come join the Wild Women for a one day ski ascent of Big Interior Mountain. A total of 1400m of elevation gain and about 20km of distance, this will be no small feat for the day, and the estimated time is 9 hours round trip from the car. We will climb up to Bedwell Lakes on the summer trail where there will likely be a lot of skis on and skis off. From Big Bedwell Lake we’ll head east up to Little Jim Lake, turn south and after a little up and then down into the east cirque we’ll roughly follow the ridge north of Big Interior and then ascend up the north face. We’ll ski the same route back. The group will carry a rescue rope and a couple harnesses but as the route will strategically avoid most of the glacier we won’t be roping up.
Skills Needed: AST 1, experience in ski touring and moving on steep snow (possible bootpacking and using an ice axe)
Gear Needed: Transceiver, Probe, Shovel, AT or Tele skis or Splitboard, Ski Crampons, Ice Axe and Crampons
