Objective: It’s all about the turns! Lots of ski lines to explore from the hut and objectives could include Peak 5040 and/or Nahmint, depending on conditions.
Cost: $20/night payable to the ACC directly when you book your hut spot.
Meeting location: Meet at the hut the evening of May 3. 4WD needed to reach the trailhead on Marion Main. Approximately two hours hiking/skiing to reach the hut from the trailhead. Participants to arrange their own transport but we can put you in touch with each other. If timing works we could also meet you at trailhead on Friday.
Description: We’ll likely be out ski touring for 6-10 hours each day, depending on objectives which range from gentle terrain (slopes near the hut) to 4th class scrambling (Nahmint). All lines are in avi terrain. Sunday may be a shorter day to allow travel home.
Skills needed: AST 1 or 2. Intermediate or better skiing or splitboarding ability. Not suitable for snowshoeing.
Gear needed: Ski touring and avi gear. Ski crampons and ice axe would be helpful. Boot crampons not needed.
