Time: All Day

Category: Hike

Departing from the Charters River Salmon Interpretive Centre parking lot at 9am (sharp), we hike gradually uphill to Grass Lake where swimming is possible for the hardy (note: not us!). Possibility of continuing to Sheilds Lake at this point, weather and group interest permitting. We then head up Monument Mountain. After descending a long open ridge with spectacular views of the Sooke Hills, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains beyond, we enter the forest and soon rejoin the trail back along Charters River.
