Meeting location: 8:00am In front of the Vancouver Island Mountain Center (AGM location)

Details: Come join us for a fun day of backcountry skiing behind Mount Washington! Its an area I explored last winter, with fun tree lines, powder filled bowls, and a handful of chutes. We will meet at the VIMC at 7:30AM.  Unfortunately Mount Washington’s policy forbids us from accessing the backcountry from their lands, so we need to drive down Strathcona parkway to where the snowmobiles normally unload. From the Snowmobile parking it’s a 30-45 minute tour down a logging road to gain the ridges we can ski. The Abilities of the group will somewhat dictate what we are able to ski, along with the current avalanche danger.
This trip is not a great option for your first tour out, on unfamiliar or borrowed gear. Instead look at my Elma/Allen Brooks trip the next day! (February 9th)

Skills and Gear Needed: AST 1 or equivalent, touring capable Backcountry skis or splitboard, with skins. 3 Antenna Beacon, Probe, Shovel, and a thirst for an epic and fun time!

Max Participants: 5 people
