Plan A – Depart Victoria early Friday May 31, 2019 – take the ferry to the mainland, drive to Mt. Rainier and and overnight at the Cougar Rock campground. Saturday we’ll drive up to the Paradise Visitors Centre and register, obtain our climbing permits and then ascend up to Camp Muir. Sunday morning will be an early alpine start with a 2 am departure from camp. Assuming the climb is uneventful, we should summit between 8-9 am, rest and descend back to Camp Muir (Nb. may descend all the way back to Paradise and camp at Cougar Rock). Monday we’ll return to Victoria.
Plan B – If May 31 – June 3 weather forecast is dodgy, trip will be rescheduled to the following weekend (i.e., June 7-10).
Trip rating is D3.
Experience with roped glacier travel and crevasse rescue is a must.
Maximum group size is currently 4 but may expand to a second rope depending on experience.
