Description: This is a Introduction in to winter camping. This workshop will teach you the skills you will need to spend a night in the back-country during the winter. This workshop is welcome to all forms of transportation, from AT skiers, to splitboarders, and if you are snow shoeing.  We will meet at the Raven Lodge on the Saturday morning, head out to Circlet Lake set up camp there, and practice skills for the rest of Saturday and the morning of Sunday. Then head out and back to the Raven Lodge on Sunday.

Expected Outcomes: 

  • Camping in snow
    • Set up camp (tents, kitchen area)
    • Building a snow cave (emergency shelters, campfire)
  • Getting water in the winter
  • Clothing needs (layering systems)
    • Gear care (how to dry and care for gear in winter environment)
    • How to keep dry and warm

Skills Needed: This is an Introduction workshop

Gear Needed:  AT Skies/Splitboard/Show Shoes, Tent,  and Cold Weather Camping Gear.
