Description:

This is an easy day trip for people with or without much backcountry ski touring experience.  I will be bringing my dog Talus and others are welcome to bring their dogs if they have experience with them in the snow. Participants with moderate fitness without much backcountry ski experience are encouraged to join us, but this is not a formal teaching trip.  I will tailor the pace and goals of the trip for the experience level of all involved and will ensure that everyone returns safely.

We will spend the day touring around the old ski runs of the Forbidden Plateau ski resort; if conditions and group fitness permit, we may attempt to summit Mt Becher, but it will not be the goal of the trip.  A transceiver and avalanche gear is required. AST1 is recommended but not required – we will not be heading into avalanche terrain and the trip will be cancelled if the conditions look too dangerous.  We may spend some time doing beacon practice and/or dig a snow profile.

Please contact me if you have any questions about gear requirements or your fitness or experience level.  My goal is to make this as inclusive a trip as possible.
